This post is part of the awesome Word Carnival. Read more posts on this month’s theme: Vanquish Your Nemesis: A Guide to Conquering Small Biz Evils
Today is Wednesday. My monthly Word Carnival post was supposed to be published last night so that it could be live and republished by our lil network of awesome small business bloggers today, which means it was SUPPOSED to have been written…I dunno, sometime before yesterday might have been good.
My business nemeses are:
- Procrastination
- Over-reliance on technology
See, I put stuff off. (What, you don’t?) I have a home, and pets, and small children…I volunteer in their classes and serve on a nonprofit board…WHATEVER. I rely, therefore, on my mobile device A LOT to schedule myself and remind me of my obligations. As a cycle, it succeeds or fails together: if I don’t input my schedules and reminders into my phone, I don’t get the lead time I need to complete the tasks I’ve obligated myself to.
None of this is news, and frankly I don’t have anything to add to either of the vast conversations surrounding my bullet points. Fortunately, I know people who do.

That may go in the runnings for my new tagline, Annie! 😉
Never mind, evan. Happens to all of us sometimes. I’ve been derailed by missing reminders a couple of times.

This pretty much embodies my biggest nemesis. Not a bad way to handle it though

Thanks, Eugene…I was literally going to type “Procrastination” and publish it, but when the fingers started moving I found that I could at least make SOME good out of it!
Hahaha…and that would have gotten the point across very well.

Glad I’m not the only one!
Awww Thanks for sharing us…and I totally respect how things happen and you came up with an EXCELLENT way to stay involved! I may have to steal that idea in the future. I totally respect entrepreneurs with children, partners, because they need your time. I am so single right now and I still procrastinate with NO excuse. I keep telling myself now is the time to get SOOO much more done because one day soon..my dream significant other is going to rock my world and distract the hell outta me!!!! ;0

This is a FIRST!! A list post where I recognize everyone on the list. 😉
Seriously, though …
Thanks a heap for the mention, Evan.
Procrastination has been a lifelong shadow. I’ve almost given up trying to vanquish it. It’s been trailing behind me for nearly sixty years. There are certain things I absolutely despise (no … make that “hate”) doing so I put them off till the last minute. No matter how much I talk to myself and tell myself I’m going to regret putting them off … I put them off, anyway. Maybe there’s an app for that. LOL!
Thanks evan, Thanks you so much for sharing a nice post. I do really like it
Glad you liked it, Christina!
Procrastination and Over-reliance on technology??? Yep, guilty of those things. lol
